SVS Valve Internals

Scientific Valve & Seal, LP recognizes the harsh demands placed on valve
sealing components in Power service. The Staff is experienced in design,
materials and manufacture of valves and components for temperatures in
excess of 1500F. Successful performance, requires the application of this
experience to standard OEM valves that are often not design or material
optimized To achieve improvements in problem applications, SVS has
developed a number of special kits, assemblies and replica components
specially engineered to solve sealing problems.

Signature Packing Kits
A signature packing kit consists of the metal components that control the
critical packing extrusion gap between the packing box and the stem at
ambient and elevated temperatures. Materials selected are selected to
control this gap through the broad operating range of temperature and
pressure. The kit may be used with existing valve stems or SVS can supply
replica stem replacements. Replica stems typically provide better control of
clearances than OEM stems as they are engineered with the same
knowledge and expertise as the packing kit.

A standard kit consists of the four components shown on SVS-0208. These
kits are engineered from careful measurements taken from existing valves.
Kits are constantly being developed for various manufacturers and models.
The kit does not include the packing, live loading, studs and nuts. These may
be supplied if required. Inconsistencies in OEM valves may require the valve
bonnet be either bored deeper or special spacers installed to achieve an
optimum 5 packing ring.

Replica Stems
Replacement stems compliment Packing Kits. Stems need replacement
where surfaces have deteriorated due to wear or corrosion. Stems are
optimized for fit with Packing Kits and are provided with hard nitrided
surfaces as standard.

SVS Internals
SVS has developed internal gate and disc assemblies that correct the
material and design flaws found in certain standard gate valves. These
internals are engineered to fit into existing valve cavities. A complete
engineering analysis and design is performed by SVS to assure proper
operation and strength of the components supplied. Contact Severe Service
